What is so special about an open cockpit aircraft?

It makes you feel like you're part of the environment you're viewing. The wind is flowing through your hair, and you can literally reach out and touch the sky you're soaring through! It's like driving in a fully convertible car, and when it comes to doing aerobatic manoeuvres in an open cockpit aircraft, that feels like you're racing around a windy road on a motorbike! 

Take off from Bankstown Airport and cruise at 1500ft, with the option for thrilling mild aerobatics over Long Palm Beach. Experience loops, rolls, and the G-forces that bring you closer to the skies, offering a glimpse of what it's like to be upside down in an open cockpit, with nothing between you and the water. Enjoy world-class views, hear calls to air traffic control through the intercom, and savour the  stunning coastline on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. As a bonus on this flight, we will drop down to 500 feet to do a low pass over the Northern Beaches, starting from Manly Beach all the way north to Palm Beach! Oh, and remember to look at the whales and the pods of dolphins we can get off our Sydney coastline.

Once we've completed the scenic component of your flight, you will have the option to climb back up to over 3000 feet, over Palm Beach, for some “gentle grade” aerobatics.  Feel the adrenaline surge as you soar through the skies, looping and rolling with G-forces ranging from +4G's to -1G's. These gentle, majestic aerobatic manoeuvres are complemented by stunning views of the most northern coastline of Sydney, Palm Beach (right where they film Home Away). 

If you're feeling brave on the day, we can also show you what it feels like to fly inverted (upside down) in your open cockpit! The only thing holding you in the aircraft when upside down is our very secure straps! Oh, and the view will now be above you, instead of beneath you. Try to enjoy the view while you're inverted in the open cockpit aircraft while experiencing negative G-forces (one of our passengers once said it was the best fun you can have with your clothes on!). All this, while the coastline and the packed beaches beneath you and watching on with awe and envy, remember to wave to all the onlookers! 

Engine start

You'll start in our flight lounge at Bankstown Airport, where we will suit up in a pilot's flight suit, followed by a one-on-one personal pre-flight briefing with your pilot. This is where you’ll also be able to discuss your scenic and aerobatic flight preferences, if any. Afterwards, you'll be securely strapped into the cockpit, an elite noise-cancelling headset on, and ready for takeoff. As you become airborne, you will immediately feel the wind in your hair in the open cockpit. As you climb over the northern beaches, the adventure begins! Your pilot will guide you through exhilarating aerobatic moves like loops, barrel rolls, and even inverted flight, offering a glimpse of what it's like to be upside down in an open cockpit, with nothing between you and the water. Each manoeuvre is explained as you go, connecting you to the history of WWI dogfights and aerial aces. When it's time to land, you'll return to Red Baron HQ with an unforgettable experience and a smile that lasts for days.
