CRAM – AIR FORCE FLIGHT SCREENING PREPARATION
If you are interested in an aviation career in the Australian Defence Forces (ADF) but have
never flown an aircraft before, it is highly recommended you do the Red Baron Flight
Training Cram course. Although hands-on flight experience is not a pre-requisite, being
prepared for flight screening by having a few hours flying time under your belt will give you
a competitive advantage over other applicants.
The Cram course is individually tailored to expose you to all three dimensions of the sky
and teach you the preliminaries of loops, rolls, wingovers and spins. This course does not
qualify you to fly these manoeuvres solo; what it does do is expose you to the sensory
experiences of extreme attitudes and G forces and prepare you for the ADF screening
process.
As the Cram course is individually tailored for each student, the number of hours flown is
up to you. Most participants average around 5 lessons or +/- 6hrs.
Over the years, a substantial number (over 90%) of Cram Course participants have been
accepted into ADF pilot training in the Air Force, Army and Navy.
