Get a taste of the Red Bull Air Race right here in Sydney and experience neck numbing aerobatics at their most extreme. From the same stable as the Extra 300, a featured aircraft in the Red Bull Air Race (Nicholas Ivanov won the Perth 2007 leg in his Extra 300SR), the Extra 200 has a top speed of 410 km/h, a climb rate of 2000 feet per minute and a staggering roll rate of 360 degrees per second. It is rated to a neck numbing positive 8 G’s and negative 8 G’s!

Upon your arrival at Red Baron HQ, Bankstown, you will climb into a flight-suit and prepare to board. Your pilot will strap you securely into the cockpit and fasten your headphones and flight helmet. There will be plenty of time for your family and friends to take photographs of you as you prepare for your flight. When you are secure, your pilot will prepare the plane for take off. You’ll be able to hear all the calls to air traffic control and speak to your pilot through the intercom.

Once airborne you’ll head west towards the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. Over St Mary’s- in the designated training area- you’ll climb to 3500ft-4000ft. You’ll start with some basic manoeuvres- like loops, barrel rolls, wingovers and hammer head turns- to get the feel of things. Your pilot may also treat you to some inverted flight- flying upside down. Your pilot will explain each manoeuvre as you go through it.

Once you’re comfortable with the basics – hold on tight as the pilot shows you what this aircraft’s really capable of. You’ll experience a sequence of manoeuvres that will test your, and the aircrafts limits.

This flight is not for the faint hearted! You’ll experience G forces of anywhere between +8G and -4G, alternatively being pushed into your seat or pulled hard against your harness. The large bubble canopy will give you unrivaled, uninterrupted views of the the surrounding landscape.

The Red Baron Red Bull Stunt Plane is made of the latest in carbon fibre composite technology combined with a proven steel airframe construction. This allows the Extra to withstand the immense forces exerted upon it during flight while maintaining it’s relatively light weight.

This is the most extreme aerobatic experience around. After you’ve had your fill of neck numbing, adrenaline flooding aerial ballet you’ll head back to Bankstown. Landing back at Red Baron HQ you’ll be hard pressed to stop smiling for the rest of the day and we hope it is an experience you will remember for the rest of your life.

Upon your arrival at Red Baron HQ, Bankstown, you will climb into a flight-suit and prepare to board. Your pilot will strap you securely into the open-air cockpit of the Pitts Special S2A aerobatic bi-plane and fasten your headphones and flight helmet.

Your pilot may also treat you to some inverted flight- flying upside down- and to a hesitation roll- a four-point roll where you pause and fly straight ahead at each quarter turn! Your pilot will explain each manoeuvre as you go through it.

Once you’re comfortable with the basics you’ll move onto some combination manoeuvres; things like a Roll Off The Top- a half loop followed by a half roll- and a Split S, the reverse of the Roll off the Top- a half roll followed by a half loop. This may be followed by Cuban Eights and reverse Cuban Eights, which are three-dimensional figure eights. You’ll experience G forces of anywhere between +6G and -3G, alternatively being pushed into your seat or pulled hard against your harness.

After a couple of spins to shake things out your pilot will put all these elements together into an adrenaline inducing sequence of the type used in competition; and while aerobatic manoeuvres are all fun and games today don’t forget they developed out of the serious business of WWI, where fighter pilots like Baron Von Richtoffen and other flying aces performed these complicated aerial moves to avoid being shot down in deadly dog fights.

You will be able to hear all the calls to air traffic control and speak to your pilot through the intercom.

You will take off from Bankstown Airport and climb over the outer suburbs of Sydney to reach a cruising altitude of 1500ft. You’ll soar over the sprawling Olympic site at Homebush Bay then circle the north-western suburbs of Hornsby and St Ives. Once granted clearance to Sydney Harbour you’ll tour the city, taking in a bird’s eye view of iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. You can wave at the Prime Minister at Kirribilli, fly higher than the eagles at Taronga Park Zoo and salute the sailors on Garden Island. It’s the best seat in the house for the best view in the world!

You might also get a chance to check out Rose Bay and the world famous Bondi Beach, before heading north over Middle Harbour, the Spit Bridge and Manly as you follow the coastline to Long Reef.

This is where things get really exciting as you pull out all stops with some adrenaline inducing aerobatics; try a loop and a roll to give you a view of the world from a completely different perspective. This is what the Pitts is made for and your pilot will give you a taste of the G-Forces Baron Manfred Von Richtoffen himself may have experienced during air combat. You’ll head back home over Mona Vale where you may catch a glimpse of the spectacular Baha’i temple.

Upon your arrival at Red Baron HQ, Bankstown, you will climb into a flight-suit and prepare to board. Your instructor will strap you securely into the Robin 2160 aerobatic training aircraft and fasten your headphones. There will be plenty of time for your family and friends to take photographs of you as you prepare for your flight.

Your instructor will proceed to give you a briefing on the aircraft’s controls and operations. When you feel secure, your pilot will climb in beside you and prepare the plane for take off. You will be able to hear all the calls to air traffic control and speak to your pilot through the intercom.

As this is an instructional flight the pilot will explain what is happening each step of the way. Once airborne he will explain the basic mechanics of flight and show you how the aircraft behaves at different attitudes. Once you are confident with this information it will be your turn to take control of the aircraft. Your instructor will hand over control of the plane to you and guide you through level flight.

But this flight isn’t just about flying the plane straight and level or doing basic turns. You’ll also get the chance to do more complicated and exciting manoeuvres like loops and rolls. By the end of the flight you’ll be confident enough to do these manoeuvres without the instructor even touching the controls. You may even get the chance to fly the plane back to Bankstown Airport where your instructor will talk you through the approach and landing.

Once you’re back at Red Baron HQ you’ll be hard pressed to stop smiling for the rest of the day and we hope it is an experience you will remember for the rest of your life.
